Running for Dylan and GOSH

Read my article on why I am running the London Marathon this year…
On September 3rd 2019 I received a diagnosis for my 9 month old son Dylan that would change our family’s lives forever. A rare genetic condition: Tuberous-Sclerosis, a brain tumour and multiple heart tumours meant we found it difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. One day we were leading a ‘normal’ family life, the next our world was turned upside down with so many fears and questions for the future.
Great Ormond Street and our local team has helped us every step of the way, giving us the hope we needed to know that we can provide Dylan with the best care possible.
Fast forward 3 years, Dylan had his neurosurgery operation in Jan 2020 and has now just turned 4 years old! We could not have done this without the amazing nurses, surgeons, doctors and every member of staff at this hospital, who continue to provide Dylan with the outstanding care that he needs.
This is my way of saying thank you to this brilliant hospital, thank you for looking after my son and for giving me hope, and thank you for being so kind with your time and attention at every single appointment we have here. Dylan will remain a patient of GOSH for many years to come as they continue to monitor all of his major organs, and we have all the faith in this excellent hospital.
Please donate generously to sponsor me, as a parent who wants to give back to an amazing facility and team who helped us see… that there was definitely a big bright light at the end of this tunnel!
